FIFA World Cup 2022

The FIFA World Cup is underway in full gear, treating us with a myriad of amazing matches this past week. The match will be held at the iconic Lusail stadium in Lusail, Qatar.

FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar

Messi fans need this win after Argentina’s disappointing first match against Saudi Arabia. The South American giants lost 2-1 against Saudi Arabia, an outcome no one expected. Can they get it together this Sunday? Or will we see a repeat of last time?

What’s Been Happening In The World Cup?

It has been an exciting week in Qatar, as the FIFA World Cup presented us with plenty of exhilarating matches. France won a brilliant first match against Australia, with a final score of 4-1. Spain dominated Costa Rica, winning 7-0, proving they are at the top of their game.

In other matches, Portugal beat Ghana 3-2, Belgium beat Canada 1-0, and Switzerland won 1-0 against Cameroon. Brazil recently won 2-0 against Serbia, while Morroco and South Korea tied against their opponents, Croatia and Uruguay.

Arguably the most exciting turn of events was Japan’s victory over Germany. The Asian Giants went toe to toe against the German wall and came out strong, winning 2-1. The crowd was ecstatic, and the football world was shocked, proving once again that this world cup is full of surprises.

On top of that, Japanese fans cleaned the stadium after the match, something which they have been doing in all World Cup events. Football fans and netizens cherished their gesture with applause.

How Is Argentina Doing So Far?

The short answer? Not as great as we thought they would do. After all, the world has been hyped about Messi performing in the 2022 World Cup.

Let’s face it if there’s anyone in the world that can bring World Cup glory to Argentina, it’s Lionel Messi. He is, to football fans, what Diego Maradona was back in the golden age of football. So naturally, there’s a lot of hope riding on Messi’s shoulders.

However, the Atomic Flea did poorly during the last game, and his penalty goal was the only thing he could bring to the table. Fans are disappointed by his sub-par performance but still maintain a slither of hope.

Argentina Vs. Saudi Arabia: What We Predicted

Saudi Arabia is ranked 51 in the FIFA ranking structure. Compare that with Argentina’s number 3 rank, and you’ll realize why everyone favored them as the winners of this match. Plus, Argentina has Messi on their side, Maradona’s very own prodigal student. So no one could have even anticipated the shocking turn of events that night at the Lusail stadium.

Argentina Vs. Saudi Arabia: The Match

The match was supposed to be the launching point for Messi’s final World Cup dabble. But after a shocking turn of events, Argentina lost 1-2 against Saudi Arabia, a team that is still quite green regarding world tournaments.

Things started off ok for the South American favorites, as Messi’s penalty goal gave them an early lead. However, the team failed to capitalize further and ended up getting trashed.

To be fair, Argentina did have its moments. Messi had an intense breakaway and shot the ball right past Saudi Arabia’s goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais. However, the goal was canceled as the referee ruled it as an offside. Lautaro Martinez came later with another spectacular shot that hit the net, but another offside ruling canceled the goal.

The Saudi team grew bolder during the second half when they started making aggressive attacks. Finally, Saleh Al-Shehri found the perfect opportunity at the 48th minute. The 29-year-old striker from Jeddah achieved world fame when he bested Argentine defenders and slipped in a low shot. The stadium came alive with massive cheers as the ball hit the net; Saudi had equalized the score.

Lionel Messi shows his disappointment after Argentina loss

Saudi Arabia made another ferocious attempt around the 53rd minute, with Al-Dawsari leading the charge. Despite being tailed by several Argentine defenders, the 31-year-old winger made a spectacular strike, shooting the ball right past the enemy goalkeeper. Saudi fans chanted, ‘Where is Messi? We’ve beaten him.’

How Is Mexico Doing So Far: Mexico Vs. Poland

Mexico’s starter match against Poland was quite uneventful, save for one intense moment of exceptional skill. The match ended in a draw, with neither side scoring a single goal. However, we have to say that things could have been worse for Mexico had it not been for the skill of their goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa.

There were multiple attempts from both sides, with Mexico failing at 11 shots and Poland 6. The ball was in Mexico’s possession; for the most part, statistics indicate a 61% ball possession rate. Poland, on the other hand, had only 39% possession; they clearly had trouble keeping up.

The highlight of the match was when Robert Lewandowski gained a penalty shot. This was clearly an advantage that Poland should’ve capitalized on, but things didn’t go as they wanted. Lewandowski’s shot was no match for Mexico’s goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa. A big win for the Mexicans; a frustrating disappointment for the poles.

Argentina Vs. Mexico: Who Will Win?

A lot is riding on Messi’s shoulders as we approach Argentina’s upcoming match with Mexico. We wonder if the Atomic Flea will ride through the waves or be crushed underneath all that expectation. The early loss against Saudi Arabia has devastated Argentine morale. A second loss might lead to a disqualification for the South American team, something Messi desperately needs to avoid.

As for Mexico, Ochoa’s recent goal save has given them a morale boost. Although they didn’t win against Poland, the team didn’t lose either, so they have better expectations than Argentina at the moment.
