Leicester City Vs Manchester United – Barclays Premier League

Leicester City Vs Manchester United

Manchester United is set to travel to the King Power Stadium to face a wounded Leicester City this Thursday, 1st September 2022, at 3 PM ET. Leicester has not had an ideal start to their season, and they will be willing to get things going this Thursday against the Red Devils.

Leicester City Vs Manchester United

On the other hand, Manchester United has won the last two of their opening four games in the Premier League this season. Erik Ten Hag has steadied the ship after getting beaten by Brighton 2-1 and 4-0 by Brentford in their first two games.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top during Saturday’s clash better between Brendan Rodgers’ men and Ten Hag’s men.

Leicester City

Leicester City has been in and around the top half of the table for a few seasons since they won the league in 2015-2016. They are among the only 7 clubs to have ever won the Premier League title since its inception in 1992.

However, all that seems to be changing as Leicester has struggled to reach their standards since the start of last season. They finished in 8th position with 52 points after 38 games, but that does not tell the complete story.

When they appointed Brendan Rodgers as the manager in 2019, soccer fans predicted Leicester City would climb up even higher in the league standings and challenge for the top 6 spots. That was looking to be the path they were taking, but it all went crashing down in the middle of the season, with injury woes to a few first-team players.

Season So Far (2022-23)

They were fortunate to finish 8th last year and have started this new season with the same momentum. Their first game was against Brentford in the Premier League, with whom they drew 2-2.

They faced Arsenal in the second game, where they came back from 2 goals behind to draw 2-2, but Arsenal came back into the game and won the game 4-2. The third game also carried a similar story, losing 2-1 against the Saints.

Leicester City

Leicester City’s actual problems showed up when they traveled to West London to face Chelsea, who finished 3rd in the league last season. Chelsea went a man down in the 28th minute of the first half that day, and it looked like Leicester would have the advantage.

However, Leicester could not capitalize on Chelsea being a man down for a third of the game. Chelsea managed to contain Leicester for the remainder of the first half. They regrouped in the second half and Raheem Sterling scored his first goal for Chelsea in the 47th minute.

Leicester’s defenders were shocking as they failed to keep a lid on Chelsea’s timely attacks. Chelsea dominated the ball even with 10 men in the second half and was able to score a second goal. A brilliant play from Reece James saw a cross going to the far post, which Sterling tapped in for his brace.

Leicester was able to get a goal back, but it was too late, as the game ended 2-1 in Chelsea’s favor.

Manchester United

Manchester United is arguably one of the biggest soccer teams in the world, but their performances in the league have not been up to the standard for several years now. When Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, he did not leave a good team behind for the next manager.

The club has hired and fired several managers, and their latest appointment, Erik Ten Hag, is left with a huge rebuilding job. It is as if the Manchester United DNA, which used to be ingrained in every player in the past, is no more.

Season So Far (2022-23)

They had a great pre-season, and it looked like United were on the right track, but their first game against Brighton proved there was still a long way to go to reach the top. After losing to Brighton, they faced Brentford, whom every soccer fan thought United could beat easily.

However, the Bees taught Erik Ten Hag a valuable lesson, thrashing United with 4 goals. After the final whistle had gone, the despair in Ten Hag’s eyes was apparent.

Manchester United

United’s next game was against Liverpool, their biggest rivals, and everyone expected another trashing for the Red Devils. Liverpool has been one of the best teams in Europe for the past few years. However, when the moment arrived, United outplayed Liverpool and defeated them by 2-1.

Since then, Manchester United faced Southampton in their fourth game, beating them by a goal to nil. It was as if United needed the trashing from Brentford in their second game to trigger something in themselves.

United’s defense looks really solid after the addition of Martinez and Malacia. The return of Varane to the backline has also proved to give them stability.

Leicester City Vs Manchester United – Preview

Thursday’s game against the Foxes and the Red Devils will give soccer fans an idea of how the season will commence for both teams. The Foxes have a major defensive issue and they have recently been struggling to find the back of the net.

Manchester United is a very unpredictable team, not knowing which version will turn up. They have the upper hand if they play as they did against Liverpool. If the Brentford version turns up, we can only predict a win for Leicester.

It will be a fascinating match to look forward to on Thursday at the King Power Stadium.
